Teenagers are weird

I was at a bonfire last week, and my kids were there with the neighbour’s kids.  The neighbour’s daughter is 14 and her and her friend roasted a few marshmallows and then got up and announced that they had to go take a shower and get ready because they were going to mall the next day.  The neighbour’s 10 year old brother looked at me, completely seriously and said, “They’re weird.”  It was so heartfelt and honest, and frankly, true.  I explained that he was right and in a couple of years he would be a weird teenager too.  He absorbed that and then went back to roasting marshmallows.  Very sweet.
